hey everyone! i’m thinking about getting lip fillers soon, and tbh i’m a bit nervous about the recovery process. like, how long does it usually take to feel normal again? do u have any tips or experiences to share? i’ve heard things can get swollen and bruised for a bit. also, if anyone has recommendations for good clinics in dubai, pls let me know! 🤔 thx!
hey everyone! i just moved to dubai a few months ago and tbh, i'm struggling to find a good doctor who speaks spanish. my arabic isn't great yet, and it's tough for me to explain my medical issues. do u guys know any clinics or hospitals like maybe aster or genesis where they have spanish-speaking doctors? it would really help me feel more comfortable. thanks a lot! 😊
been dealing with IBS for about 2 years and its honestly affecting my quality of life. some days im fine, other days i cant even leave the house 😩 ive been managing with the low FODMAP diet which helps a bit but i want to see a specialist who can actually investigate whats going on properly instead of just saying "its IBS, manage your stress" anyone seen a gastroenterologist in dubai who actually takes IBS seriously and does thorough testing? i feel like a lot of doctors dismiss it ideally looking for someone in the dubai area. on metlife insurance. also if anyones tried any treatments that worked for them id love to hear about it — probiotics, specific diets, medications, whatever
I'm looking to add my spouse and child to my health insurance plan and would appreciate guidance from anyone who's been through the process. My current situation: - I'm on a group medical plan through my employer (Daman national health insurance) - My wife recently arrived on a dependent visa - We have a 2-year-old who also needs coverage Specific questions: 1. Can dependents be added to an employer plan, or do I need to arrange a separate policy? 2. If I need a separate policy, which insurers offer good family plans in Abu Dhabi? I've been looking at Daman and Allianz. 3. What's the typical timeline for activation after applying? 4. Are there any age-related restrictions or medical screenings required for dependents? 5. How does maternity coverage work if we're planning for a second child? Any insights on the process, costs, or recommended providers would be very helpful. Thank you.
Has anyone found an efficient way to locate specialists that are covered under their specific insurance plan? I need to see a rheumatologist and it's been incredibly frustrating. I'm with AXA, TPA is NextCare, and I'm on the basic network. Here's what I've tried: 1. Called NextCare — they provided a generic hospital list, but half the facilities on it don't even have a rheumatology department 2. Called hospitals directly — three of them said they accept NextCare but not my specific network tier 3. Searched online — most hospital websites don't list which insurance networks they accept at the specialist level It feels like there should be a straightforward tool where you input your insurance details, select the specialty you need, and get a filtered list of available providers. Has anyone found a workaround? Or is calling every hospital individually really the only option? Any rheumatologist recommendations in Dubai would also be welcome.
well this is the worst thing thats ever happened to me 😤 tore my ACL last weekend during a football match and MRI confirmed its a complete tear. surgeon says i need reconstruction looking for the best orthopedic surgeon in dubai for ACL reconstruction — ideally someone who works with athletes or at least understands that i want to get back to playing questions for anyone whos been through this: - how long was recovery HONESTLY? dr said 6-9 months but the internet says up to a year - patellar tendon graft vs hamstring — which did you get and why? - rough cost with insurance? im on metlife - which hospital did you go to? im 29 and sport is my entire social life so this is genuinely devastating. any advice or experience would help a lot
I've been in the UAE for six months now and still struggle with the insurance system. I'm hoping someone can help me understand how network tiers work. My insurance card shows Orient Insurance with Mednet as TPA. When I visited a clinic near my home, they said they don't accept Mednet. Another clinic said they accept Mednet but not my network tier. My questions: 1. How do I determine exactly which tier/network I'm on? 2. Is there a centralised directory where I can search by my specific plan and see all covered providers? 3. When a clinic says "we accept Mednet" but then turns me away, what's actually happening? 4. Are there any apps or websites that map insurance plans to specific hospitals? I've tried calling Mednet directly but the PDF they sent is outdated — several clinics listed have either closed or no longer accept my plan. It seems like there should be a technology solution for this. In my home country, you simply enter your insurance details on an app and it shows you everything nearby that's covered. Does anything like that exist here?
my 3 year old has had literally 5 ear infections in the past year. every time we go to the pediatrician its another round of antibiotics but nothing is actually fixing the problem hes also snoring really loudly at night and sometimes it sounds like he stops breathing for a second which freaks me out. pediatrician thinks it might be enlarged adenoids anyone been through something similar?? what ended up being the solution — did your kid need surgery?? looking for a pediatric ENT in dubai whos good with small nervous kids. last specialist we saw was so rough my son was crying before the doctor even did anything we're in motor city but will go literally anywhere for someone good. insurance is metlife
We recently moved to JLT with our 14-month-old daughter and need to find a new paediatrician. Our previous doctor was in Abu Dhabi so the commute is no longer feasible. What we're looking for: - Someone patient and gentle with toddlers (our daughter is quite anxious around doctors) - Up to date on vaccination schedules - Evening or weekend appointment availability would be ideal - Female doctor preferred as our daughter tends to be calmer with women - Clinic with a child-friendly waiting area is a bonus We're on Cigna insurance. Location anywhere between JLT, JBR, and Marina would work. If you have a paediatrician you genuinely trust and would recommend, I'd love to hear about your experience. Thank you!
ive been dealing with lower back pain for over a year now (desk job problems 🙃) and honestly ive had it with average physios been to 3 different ones so far and its always the same thing: - ultrasound for 5 min - generic stretching exercises - "come back next week" - AED 400 please i need someone who will actually DIAGNOSE whats going on. happy to pay more for someone competent. open to osteopathy or chiro too but only if theyre evidence-based, not the ones who just crack everything and send you home jbr/marina area preferred. on oman insurance with nextcare. cheers
I recently relocated to Dubai for work and I'm finding the health insurance system quite different from what I'm used to. My employer has enrolled me on an AXA plan through a TPA called NAS, but I'm confused about how to actually use it. Some specific questions: 1. What exactly is a TPA and why doesn't my insurance just work directly with hospitals? 2. I have a "silver network" — how do I find which hospitals and clinics are included? 3. Is it true that some doctors/specialists might be at a covered hospital but not on my network? 4. What happens if I go to an out-of-network provider in an emergency? 5. I need a GP for a general check-up — is there a way to search by insurance online? I called NAS and they emailed me a PDF list but it's massive and not very user-friendly. Surely there's a better way to navigate this? Any tips for a newcomer would be really helpful. Thank you.
everyone used to say corniche hospital in abu dhabi was THE place for having a baby. but that was years ago anyone delivered there in 2025? how was it compared to private hospitals?? want to know: - can u choose ur dr or is it whoever is on duty - how are the rooms, heard they renovated? - is it rly almost free for residents?? - hows the nicu also thinking about danat al emarat as alternative but its wayyy more expensive. worth the extra?? im 20 weeks so need to decide soonish inshaAllah
just got diagnosed with hypothyroidism and gp put me on levothyroxine 50mcg but i still feel like garbage honestly. fatigue, gaining weight, hair falling out. all the fun stuff lol need a proper endocrinologist not just a gp who looks at one number. my gp only tested tsh which apparently isnt enough?? u need t3 t4 and antibodies checked too from what i read online anyone got a good one in dubai? someone who actually takes time and doesnt just look at ur tsh and say "its fine" insurance is aetna if that matters
been going to nmc royal in AD for about 2 yrs now so heres my honest take the good stuff: - dr bindiya jhamb (gynecology) is actually excellent like really thorough - ER is fast never waited more than 30 min - most departments are modern and clean - they take basically every insurance the annoying stuff: - billing department is a DISASTER. ive had wrong bills like 3 times now - parking is hell especially mornings dont even bother driving there at 9am - some departments have crazy wait times even WITH an appointment which defeats the purpose?? - pharmacy runs out of medicines sometimes which is... not great for a hospital overall id give it like 7/10. not the fanciest but the drs are generally solid especially gynaecology and paediatrics just double check your bills always always always
my teeth r so yellow from karak chai addiction 😅 is professional zoom whitening worth 800-2000 aed or can i just use those crest strips from amazon?? tried the strips before and they helped for like 2 months then went back to yellow. is professional more permanent? also my teeth r already sensitive so worried about making it worse. anyone done it recently??
im 42 and things r not as tight as they used to be 😅 jawline and neck mainly. not ready for surgery tho treatments i keep hearing about: - ultherapy - thermage - morpheus8 - hifu anyone tried any of these HERE in dubai? which one gave u actual noticeable results? not just "oh maybe slightly better" but like actually visible prices r all over the place. 5000+ for single ultherapy session?? also saw dr mihaela svorcina mentioned online for natural aesthetic stuff. anyone been to her?
My wife and I are expecting our first child and have narrowed our hospital shortlist to American Hospital Dubai and Mediclinic Parkview. We've toured both facilities and had initial consultations, but I wanted to hear from parents who have actually delivered at either. **What we're considering:** - Quality of postnatal care and NICU facilities - Private room availability and standard - Midwife support vs obstetrician-led care - Whether they support birth plans and natural delivery preferences - Total cost breakdown (we're on Cigna enhanced network) We've heard excellent things about both, but the pricing difference is substantial. American Hospital quoted approximately AED 35,000 for a normal delivery package, while Mediclinic was closer to AED 25,000. Any recent experiences would be greatly appreciated. We're making our decision by end of March.
went for a lasik consultation yesterday and turns out my corneas are too thin for lasik 😭 dr recommended PRK instead anyone here done PRK in dubai? what was the recovery like?? i keep reading horror stories online about how the first few days are brutal also the price difference is wild — got quoted 7000 for both eyes at moorfields and 5500 at the eye consultants. is there a big quality difference or is it basically the same procedure everywhere? if youve done it plsss tell me about your experience cos im lowkey scared lol
Looking for a skilled dermatologist in Dubai who specialises in treating acne scarring. I've had moderate cystic acne for years and while it's mostly under control now, the scarring is quite noticeable. I've done some research and it seems like the options are microneedling, laser resurfacing, or chemical peels. Would appreciate hearing from anyone who's had successful treatment here. A few questions: - Which treatment gave you the best results for ice pick / boxcar scars? - Roughly how many sessions did it take? - Cost per session? - Any dermatologists you'd specifically recommend or avoid? I'm in the Marina area but happy to travel anywhere in Dubai for the right specialist. Insurance is Oman Insurance with NAS TPA. Thanks in advance.
thinking about getting lip filler for the first time and honestly a bit nervous 😅 i want something really subtle and natural looking, not overdone. budget is around 1500-2000 aed. has anyone been to any of the clinics in business bay or downtown area? ive seen some instagram pages that look great but you never know if the photos are edited lol also — does it hurt?? and how long does the swelling last? i have a wedding to go to in 3 weeks so wanna time it right any recs would be amazing!!
had to go to ER twice recently (sons fever + my own chest pain scare). went to 2 different places so thought id share rashid hospital: - waited like 2 HOURS even tho they said its urgent - but when i finally got seen the dr was really good actually - basically free with health card - old building but clean enough - verdict: great drs, terrible waiting mediclinic city hospital: - registered in 5 min, saw dr in 20 min - super modern, private rooms in the ER even - dr was great did ecg and bloods fast - bill was 3500 aed (insurance covered 80% tho) - verdict: premium but u pay for it basically if ur not dying go govt hospital. if u need speed go private. both had good actual medical care tbh
want veneers on front 6 teeth. got 2 very different opinions dentist 1: composite veneers 1200 per tooth. done in 1 visit. can be repaired. lasts 5-7 yrs tho dentist 2: porcelain veneers 3500 per tooth. need 2 visits. looks more natural. lasts 15-20 yrs. BUT they shave ur actual teeth which is scary thats 7200 vs 21000 for 6 teeth. massive difference is porcelain really THAT much better?? also someone told me about "no prep veneers" or lumineers where they dont shave anything. anyone done those here? my teeth r just slightly uneven and theres a small gap between front two. nothing major
want to straighten my teeth. some orthodontists charge 20k+ aed for invisalign. some regular dentists offer it for 12k. is there actually a difference in quality?? my case isnt super complex just mild crowding on bottom teeth also is invisalign worth it over normal braces? im 30 i dont want metal in my mouth lol and whats the deal with smiledirectclub type things - r they available here and r they any good or terrible how long does treatment take for mild stuff??
diagnosed with pcos back in india, now in abu dhabi and need to find a good gynecologist who actually understands it my periods r all over the place and i have hormonal acne which is lovely lol. was on metformin before which helped but i want someone who looks at the whole picture not just throws pills at you read somewhere online that dr rabia zahid at danat al emarat is good for pcos specifically? anyone confirm?? also dr zeudi at harley street keeps coming up but apparently its impossible to get appointments with her cos shes so booked just want a dr who LISTENS you know? im so tired of 5 min appointments where they dont even look at you
this is hard to post even on here but whatever. ive been dealing with anxiety and depression for a while and i need professional help the stigma in this region is real. i cant talk to my family about this cos they ll just say pray more or be grateful or whatever. i know they mean well but thats not how it works can anyone recommend a therapist/psychiatrist in dubai who: - understands the cultural context (im from conservative background) - doesnt immediately jump to pills - does cbt or talk therapy - covered by daman? i dont care if its male or female just someone who listens and doesnt judge if uve been thru this and found help here plz share. there r so many of us suffering in silence.
we live in sharjah and dont want to drive to dubai for every single appointment lol has anyone delivered at: - university hospital sharjah - al zahra hospital - zulekha sharjah which was best?? need good nicu just in case, experienced midwives, clean rooms. insurance is basic so cost matters this is baby #2 but first one was back home so first time dealing with uae hospitals for this
salam. so i want to get botox for my forehead (the lines r getting bad lol) but the prices are allll over the place one clinic quoted 2500 aed and another one said 1200 for basically the same area?? why is it so different someone on a forum said skin111 is good and also lucia clinic but i havent been to either also apparently some places use korean botox thats cheaper... is it safe tho? i dont wanna save money and end up with a frozen face 😂 any recommendations for first timer? i just want subtle not obvious
company is letting us pick between bupa cigna and daman enhanced for next year. anyone had experience with all 3?? mainly care about: - wide hospital network (dont want to be restricted to like 5 places) - direct billing that actually WORKS without preapproval drama every. single. time - maternity coverage (planning to start family soon inshaAllah) - dental would be nice currently on daman basic and its ok but they deny stuff and the preapproval thru some tpas is painfully slow. heard bupa sukoon elite is the gold standard but also the most expensive obviously what would u pick??
ok so i dont usually write reviews but dr murthy deserves it long story short my previous ob gyn LEFT THE COUNTRY when i was 28 weeks pregnant (yes rly) and i was panicking. got referred to dr nirmala murthy at kings college dubai hills from the first appointment she made me feel so calm. shes so knowledgable but also like... warm? if that makes sense. not cold and rushed like some drs here i developed gestational diabetes and she managed it perfectly. never made me feel bad about it. delivered naturally at 39 weeks and it was actually a positive experience which i never thought id say lol maternity package was around 15-18k aed for normal delivery. my bupa covered most of it thankfully only negative is shes popular so sometimes you wait a while for appointments but honestly so worth it 10/10 would recommend. shes the real deal
been trying 3 years now me and my husband. all tests done, dr says ivf is the way to go. we want to do it here in dubai cos cant deal with travelling for this getting different numbers from different clinics: - bourn hall: ~25k per cycle - fakih ivf: ~22k - conceive: ~28k but thats just the cycle right?? how much extra for meds?? nobody gives u a straight answer im 34 so i know age matters. did anyone here get it first try or did it take multiple?? this whole thing is emotionally and financially exhausting and im barely holding it together tbh. any advice would mean alot ❤
need a single implant for my molar. went to dr joy dental and they said 6000 aed for everything (consultation, implant, crown) is that a good price or am i being naive?? back home this would cost 3x more so it seems cheap to me but i also dont want to cheap out on teeth lol how painful is it? im such a baby with dental stuff honestly just thinking about it makes me nervous also how long does the whole thing take? someone told me its months?? live near jlt btw if anyone knows good implant drs in that area
kinda awkward topic but my dad had prostate cancer so i wanna get checked. im 45 what age should men start screening in uae? does family history change things? my gp hasnt mentioned it once which worries me tbh is psa blood test enough or should i ask for more i know lots of arab men dont like talking about this but we need to normalize it. early detection saves lives wallah any urologists in dubai u would recommend? arabic speaking preferred but not a must
So I had rhinoplasty with Dr Hassouneh at Novomed about 6 months ago and some ppl asked me to do an update so here goes went to 3 consultations before choosing him. honestly the other 2 drs were kind of rude? like they barely listened to what i wanted. dr hassouneh actually sat with me for like 40 mins first time and looked at my nose from every angle surgery was 2.5 hours. woke up and my face looked like a balloon lol not gonna lie. cast came off after 1 week which was gross but fine. i took 10 days off work swelling was bad for first month but now at 6 months im reallyyy happy with it. it looks natural which is what i wanted. not that instagram nose everyone gets cost was 22k aed total with all follow ups. ive seen other places charge 30-35k for same thing so i think thats fair anyway happy to answer questions if anyone wants to know more. it was the best decision i ever made honestly even tho i was so scared before lol
ok judge me if u want but im 38 and my jawline is sagging and it bothers me SO much. had a consultation for a mini facelift and the surgeon said im a good candidate but my friends think im too young and should do threads or ultherapy first. idk tho cos some people say threads only last like 6 months which seems pointless for the money?? got quoted 45k aed at a clinic in healthcare city. is that normal?? anyone done a facelift in their late 30s?? was it worth it or do u wish u waited not sure what to do tbh
hiiii just found out im pregnant (!!!!) and i need to find a good ob gyn in dubai like NOW this is baby #1 so im freaking out a little bit lol i live in garhoud but i can go anywhere in dubai honestly. someone in a moms fb group said dr mahalekshmi at mediclinic welcare is amazing and like super experienced. anyone been to her?? also heard dr nirmala murthy at kings college is good and dr ann mathew at mediclinic i want someone whos pro natural birth but obviously knows when c section is needed. my insurance is daman enhanced hopefully that covers these places?? any mamas here?? feeling so overwhelmed rn 😅😅
everyone goes to turkey for hair transplants but honestly the idea of recovering in a hotel room in istanbul doesnt appeal to me at all need about 3000 grafts fue method. turkey is quoting 8-12k aed including hotel. dubai clinics r like 25-40k for the same thing basically is the quality really that different or am i just paying for convenience?? also heard horror stories from turkey where the "doctor" shows up for 5 mins then technicians do everything. is that actually true?? 34M norwood 3 if it matters lol. my hairline is making me look 44 not 34 😭
this is super personal i know but this community seems supportive so here goes. looking into breast augmentation had 2 consultations and got completely different recommendations: - one said 350cc silicone under muscle - other said 300cc above muscle prices were 25k to 40k aed. why is the difference SO huge?? mainly care about: - natural look (not bolt on look pls) - minimal scarring - experienced surgeon whos done loads of these - good aftercare if anyone is willing to share their experience id really appreciate it. recovery? complications? happy with results after few months/years? thank you for being open about this stuff 🙏
thinking about getting laser done. medium skin (type IV i think?) and dark hair so should be good candidate right? questions for anyone whos done it: - how many sessions for like full body - approx cost per session - which clinic - does it ACTUALLY last or do u need touchups forever saw some deals on groupon for 99 aed per session which seems sus. u get what u pay for right?? my friend got burnt at some dodgy place in sharjah and had marks for MONTHS so yeah im a bit scared of that happening ngl
ok so ive been wanting to get my nose done for like 3 years now and i think im finally gonna do it. problem is i have NO idea who to go to my friend went to some clinic in healthcare city and honestly her nose looks weird now so that scared me lol i was reading on reddit and ppl were saying dr basil hassouneh at novomed is really good? also someone mentioned dr stefano pompei at skin111. has anyone actually been to either of them?? my budget is like 20-25k aed but tbh if the dr is amazing i can stretch a bit more also is it better to go to plastic surgeon or ENT for nosejob? someone told me ENT is better cos they understand the breathing side too but idk plz help 🙏
3 kids all c-section and my stomach muscles are basically destroyed. doctor said its diastasis recti and exercise wont fix it i need abdominoplasty looking for good plastic surgeon in dubai who does post pregnancy body stuff. muscle repair + excess skin removal ideally if uve had it done: - how long was recovery?? could u look after kids or did u need help - did insurance cover any of it since its technically medically necessary - how much total - any regrets this is a huge decision for me so want to hear from ppl who actually went thru it not just sales pitches from clinics
