How to read your card

What each name on your card means

The insurer, administrator, network tier and provider do different jobs. Matching all four avoids the common mistake of checking a company-wide list instead of your exact plan and branch.

Insurer
The insurer issues and underwrites your health policy. Its logo may be the largest name on the card, but another company may manage the medical network.
TPA
The third-party administrator handles claims, approvals and the provider network for an insurer. Mednet, Nextcare, NAS and Neuron are common examples.
Network tier
The tier, plan or category defines the actual provider list. Two members using the same TPA can have different hospital access because their tiers differ.
Provider
The hospital or clinic checks your member details, requested service and approval rules. Being listed does not mean every branch or treatment is automatically covered.

Direct billing and reimbursement are not the same

A provider can appear in your network but still handle different services in different ways. Check which route applies before you pay.

Direct billing

The provider checks your eligibility and sends the covered portion of the bill to the insurer or TPA. A co-pay, deductible, referral or pre-approval may still apply.

Reimbursement

You pay the provider first, then claim under your policy using the required form, invoice, receipt and medical documents. Reimbursement limits vary by plan.

Before you book

Use the list as a starting point, then confirm

Health insurance networks change. A provider may accept selected tiers, restrict direct billing to certain branches, or require a referral or pre-approval. Confirm the exact branch, service and policy before treatment. In an emergency, follow the instructions on your insurance card or contact local emergency services.

How lists are checked

Medifinder links individual provider records to named network tiers from insurer and TPA source lists. A healthcare group name is not treated as proof that every branch belongs to the same network.

Why eligibility can differ

Eligibility can depend on policy status, branch, specialty, service, referral, approval and benefit limits. The provider and your insurer or TPA make the final real-time confirmation.

Plain answers

Insurance network questions

The terms on UAE insurance cards are not always consistent. These answers explain what to look for before opening a provider list.

Where is the network name on my insurance card?

Look for a field labelled Network, Plan, Tier, Category or Product. It is often printed near the TPA or administrator logo. If you only see an insurer name, use the support number on the card and ask for both the TPA and exact network tier.

Is an insurer the same as a TPA?

Not usually. The insurer issues and underwrites the policy. A TPA, or third-party administrator, may manage claims, approvals and the healthcare network on the insurer's behalf. Your card can therefore show both names.

Why does one hospital accept some tiers but not others?

Each tier is a separate commercial agreement with its own provider list and benefits. A hospital may accept a premium tier but not a restricted tier from the same TPA. Always match the complete tier name, not only the company name.

Does appearing on a network list guarantee cashless treatment?

No. Direct billing can still depend on active membership, the branch, medical necessity, referrals, exclusions, waiting periods, benefit limits and pre-approval. Ask the provider to verify eligibility before a non-emergency visit.

What if my clinic is not in the list?

Check the spelling, branch and exact tier first. Then contact the insurer or TPA using the number on your card. Your policy may allow reimbursement for some out-of-network care, but the rules and claim documents vary by plan.

How current are Medifinder's network lists?

Medifinder records the source and verification date when it is available and updates provider links as new lists are reviewed. Networks can change between updates, so the insurer, TPA and provider remain the final source for live eligibility.
