What preconception checkup is

A preconception checkup reviews health, medicines, immunisations, pregnancy history, family history and lifestyle before trying to conceive. Tests are selected from that review rather than ordered as one universal panel. It is not the same as an infertility evaluation.

Published prices in the UAE

A limited number of UAE providers publish prices on their own websites. Where there are not enough comparable published prices, this page shows no range rather than a misleading one. Ask the provider for a written price setting out what it includes and excludes.

Why prices differ

Clinician time, laboratory breadth, carrier screening, partner testing and vaccines drive price. A basic visit may be more clinically useful than a long generic panel if it identifies medicine, chronic-condition or immunisation changes.

What to compare in each offer

Confirm clinician consultation, medicine and supplement review, vaccine history, named blood tests, carrier-screening scope, partner eligibility and a follow-up plan. Ask which results require action before trying to conceive.

Insurance and coverage

Coverage varies because consultation and medically indicated tests may fall under outpatient benefits while elective screening, vaccines or expanded carrier panels may not. Maternity benefits may not start before pregnancy. Confirm each named service and waiting-period rule.

What to expect

Bring medicine and supplement lists, immunisation records and relevant pregnancy or family history. The clinician reviews risks and chooses tests or referrals. Vaccination or medicine changes may affect when it is appropriate to start trying.

Suitability and limitations

Do not stop prescribed medicines without the clinician who manages them. A package cannot predict fertility or determine pregnancy outcomes. Urgent symptoms need direct assessment, and known chronic conditions may need specialist optimisation.

Choosing a provider

Choose a provider that personalises tests after history review and can coordinate gynaecology, primary care, genetics or chronic-disease specialists. Avoid comparing packages only by test count.

Frequently asked questions

Is this a fertility test?

No. It prepares health for pregnancy; fertility evaluation is separate.

Should both partners attend?

Partner history or testing may be relevant depending on risks and package scope.

Are vaccines included?

Review may be included, but vaccines are often separately priced.

Does every person need carrier screening?

Scope depends on history, ancestry, local guidance and informed choice.

Does insurance cover it?

Coverage varies service by service; confirm consultation, tests and vaccines separately.

When should I book?

Ideally before trying to conceive, especially if medicines or chronic conditions need review.

Prices are collected from each provider’s own published pages. They are indicative and subject to change. Confirm the final price and what it covers with the provider.
