Define the teeth, tissue and reviews
Confirm whether the price includes examination, gum measurements, imaging, local anaesthetic, the named method, number of teeth, soft-tissue-only or bone work, protective dressing if used, prescribed medicines, reviews and any planned restorations. Ask which items are optional or separately billed.

Cause and tissue scope set the pathway
The cause of gum display, gum health, number of teeth, symmetry, need for bone reshaping, method, existing restorations and any orthodontic or jaw assessment can alter the plan. A limited soft-tissue contour is not the same as restorative crown lengthening or treatment aimed at lip movement.
Assessment comes before the selected method
For gum-tissue contouring, the clinician marks and reshapes the planned gum line using the selected technique. AAP guidance describes crown lengthening as reshaping excess gum and sometimes bone when more tooth must be exposed for cosmetic or restorative reasons. The provider should explain the exact scope, aftercare and review schedule for the chosen plan.
Healthy gums and a cause-led plan matter
The assessment should check active gum disease, tooth proportions, restorations and the relationship between the planned gum line and supporting tissues. Discuss medicines, allergies, smoking, diabetes and healing concerns. Follow the clinic’s written aftercare and urgent-contact instructions; do not rely on a generic recovery promise.
Ask who diagnosed the cause
Verify the facility and practitioner with the relevant UAE regulator. Ask who assesses gum health and smile cause, who performs the procedure, how often they treat the proposed scope, what alternatives were considered, what the total includes and who manages follow-up or complications.
If the main cause is lip movement, tooth position, short-looking clinical crowns or jaw position, the reasonable alternatives can differ.
