One surgical family, several harvesting and implantation methods

Hair transplantation moves a person’s own follicular units from a donor area to a recipient area. FUE removes units individually. FUT removes a strip from which grafts are prepared. DHI describes implantation with an implanter pen and is commonly paired with FUE harvesting. The right label matters because recovery, scarring, session length and quote basis can differ.

Start with the quote basis, not the smallest number

Medifinder does not yet have enough clean, like-for-like surgical hair transplant prices to calculate a reliable UAE range. Clinic listings remain available, but non-surgical PRP, PRGF, GFC and mesotherapy prices are excluded from the transplant comparison. Ask for a written quote based on an assessed graft count.

Medifinder does not show an aggregate range here because the published figures we hold are not yet clean, like-for-like surgical quotes. Clinic listings remain visible, but non-surgical injection prices are excluded. A useful quote states the technique, assessed graft count or graft band, included procedure stages, support treatments and whether the number is a starting price or a final total.

Per graft, package and starting price are not interchangeable

A hair transplant can be quoted per graft, as a package for a graft band, or from a starting procedure price. These figures answer different questions. A per-graft rate has no useful total until a clinician assesses donor supply and the area to restore. A package is comparable only when the graft allowance and inclusions match. A starting price is the clinic’s lowest entry point, not the expected bill. Compare the same technique and assessed scope, then ask for one written total.

Quote typeWhat it meansWhat to confirm
Per graftA rate multiplied by the clinic-estimated follicular-unit count. How the count was measured and the expected total.
Graft-band packageOne price for a stated range or maximum number of grafts. The included count and price if the assessment changes it.
Starting procedure priceThe clinic’s lowest entry point, not a quote for an assessed case.Technique, graft count and everything included in the final total.

Ask for one complete written total

Confirm the consultation, donor assessment, graft estimate, blood tests, local anaesthesia, extraction and implantation, medicines, washing or aftercare kit, reviews and VAT. If PRP, GFC or another support treatment is promised, ask how many sessions are included and what later sessions cost. Ask how a larger graft requirement or a second surgical session changes the total.

  • Technique and estimated graft count
  • Who performs extraction and implantation
  • Anaesthesia, medicines and aftercare kit
  • Follow-up schedule
  • PRP or other support treatment, if promised
  • VAT and any second-session cost

Graft count and technique drive the scope

The planned recipient area, donor supply, hair characteristics, graft target, technique, session length, surgeon and support team all affect the quote. A hairline refinement and full hairline-plus-crown restoration are not the same product. Revision surgery, beard or eyebrow work and a second session should be identified separately.

Assessment, design, harvesting, implantation and follow-up

A consultation assesses the hair-loss pattern, scalp and donor area, then agrees a design and estimated graft count. The procedure is usually performed with local anaesthesia and can occupy much of a day. The clinic should explain washing, sleep position, activity limits, temporary shedding, review dates and when changes are expected. Recovery and growth vary, so use the treating team’s case-specific instructions.

Diagnosis and donor supply come before surgery

Not every form of hair loss is suitable for transplantation, and donor follicles are limited. A clinician should assess the diagnosis and whether loss is stable enough for a surgical plan. Discuss medicines, smoking, allergies, bleeding risk, scalp conditions and prior procedures. Ask who performs each surgical step and how the licensed facility handles urgent concerns after discharge.

Verify the facility, clinician and hands-on roles

Check the facility and clinician on the relevant UAE regulator’s register. Ask who examines you, designs the hairline, administers anaesthesia, harvests grafts, prepares them and creates recipient sites. Review a range of the clinic’s own results, ask how graft survival and complications are tracked, and compare the written total rather than a marketing range. A directory listing is not an endorsement of outcomes.

Frequently asked questions

What is the difference between FUE, DHI and FUT?
FUE harvests follicular units individually. FUT removes a strip and prepares grafts from it. DHI describes implantation with a pen and is often combined with FUE harvesting. Ask the clinic to name both harvesting and implantation methods.
Is a starting hair transplant price the final cost?
Usually not. It is the clinic’s lowest entry point. The final quote should follow a donor and recipient-area assessment and state the technique, estimated graft count and inclusions.
How should I compare per-graft prices?
Compare the same technique and ask how each clinic measured the graft count. Multiply the rate by the assessed count, then add anything outside the rate. A low rate with a higher count or fewer inclusions may cost more overall.
Is PRP or PRGF the same as a hair transplant?
No. PRP and PRGF are non-surgical injections intended to support existing hair. A transplant surgically moves follicles. Medifinder keeps their prices in separate comparisons.
What should a hair transplant package include?
Ask for consultation, assessment, graft estimate, tests, anaesthesia, extraction, implantation, medicines, aftercare, reviews, VAT and any promised support sessions to be stated separately in writing.
Who should perform a hair transplant?
The facility and treating professionals should hold the relevant UAE licences. Ask who performs the assessment, hairline design, anaesthesia, harvesting and recipient-site creation rather than assuming one person handles every stage.
Is hair transplant surgery covered by insurance in the UAE?
Surgery for pattern hair loss is generally treated as cosmetic and paid privately. A reconstructive case may be assessed differently under a specific policy, but coverage should not be assumed. Confirm it in writing before treatment.
How many grafts will I need?
That cannot be set from a menu. A clinician needs to assess the recipient area, donor supply, hair characteristics and the design you are considering. Ask how the estimate was measured and whether the written total has a graft limit.
