ACL tear from football — need surgeon recommendations...

well this is the worst thing thats ever happened to me 😤 tore my ACL last weekend during a football match and MRI confirmed its a complete tear. surgeon says i need reconstruction looking for the best orthopedic surgeon in dubai for ACL reconstruction — ideally someone who works with athletes or at least understands that i want to get back to playing questions for anyone whos been through this: - how long was recovery HONESTLY? dr said 6-9 months but the internet says up to a year - patellar tendon graft vs hamstring — which did you get and why? - rough cost with insurance? im on metlife - which hospital did you go to? im 29 and sport is my entire social life so this is genuinely devastating. any advice or experience would help a lot

hey, that sounds rough man, I feel for you. i had a buddy who did his ACL at Al Wasl Sports Club and he went to Dr. Taha at Dubai Sports Medicine Centre. he specializes in athletes and really helped my friend get back in shape. for recovery, it can vary a lot based on the person, but yeah, 6-9 months is pretty standard. just gotta stay committed with rehab. read online that the hamstring graft usually has less pain post-op, but patellar tendon graft is the gold standard. costs can be pretty high, like 30k+ depending on the hospital and insurance. my friend had MetLife too, but he called them first to check exact copay stuff. i’d suggest hitting up some forums or groups for athletes in Dubai too, they might have more insight! stay strong, u got this! 💪
